I like how you do..

My husband is a very talented artist and designer. He has taught me a thing or two about graphic design. Last week I was asked to design an ad for Parts and Labour's way cool poster store called Shark Attack. With only two hours notice, I was able to put together an ad while getting the store ready for ACL!

And, the same week Daniel designed and constructed an ACL themed window for Whole Earth. The Austin sky line is several different hanging layers that Daniel cut out by hand and even added lights to make it look like the set.
So talented!
Here is Daniel, the artist, using his skills in the retail world.

Speaking of Color.. Part 2

5 Tips to add color to your wardrobe:

1. If you're not completely ready to jump in, start with a simple solid piece to add a pop of color. A nice bright sweater over a white shirt paired with jeans is a no-brainer. Coordinate with a colorful small earrings or a bright complementing lip color.

2. Accessories are a great way to add color without the cost of a major investment piece. A vivid scarf can brighten up your features and bring some cheer to your basic winter coat.

3.  A neutral color palette lends itself nicely to neons. Creams and nudes look great with hot pinks and reds. Love to wear black? Try a skinny belt in electric yellow or a loud set of bangles
with your next outfit.

4. Remember that neons and brights are a trend. More sophisticated colors will always last longer and seem newer than teenage-looking day glow brights. Before you invest, try the trend on a scale you feel comfortable with. If you love a little color and have a basic wardrobe, then a bright blue coat may be perfect when you throw
on your go-to skinny jeans.

A more sophisticated color combo will take you through more seasons

Stay away from this kind of neon

5. An often-missed but useful tip when it comes to brights: Don't forget about make up. Even a brighter blush or a brighter red lip
for Fall can update your look.

Speaking of Color..

Pantone just added 175 new colors to its library, including a whole line of neon brights! Pantone colors are used by designers in many industries so when a new palette is introduced, they can forecast ahead for consumer demands,
i.e. pay attention!

In the previous post, I put up an inspiration page for mixing colors and prints for Fall. Here are some examples of how bright colors are showing up on the runways:

Alice + Olivia // Resort 2012

Chanel // Resort 2012

Retailers are easily incorporating these brights into their Fall collections. Check out how J.Crew's doing it:
